For candidates

What a cybersecurity recruiter for candidates owes you.

Representation is not the same as submission. This page sets out what happens to your name once it is with us: who sees it, when it moves, what you are told before you spend an hour on a call, and what you can hold this firm to. Read it before you send anything to anyone.

How a first conversation is set up, before any detail changes hands

The difference

Four things change when a specialist holds your file

Volume sourcing is built to maximise submissions. Specialist representation is built around the one placement that actually fits. That difference shows up in four concrete places, and all four are things you can test on a first call.

01

Access to searches that are never posted

A large share of security leadership work never reaches a job board. Confidential successions, replacements where the incumbent is still in the seat, and newly funded functions all run quietly, because publishing them would be a disclosure the business cannot make. Those searches reach people through the firm already holding the mandate. Being known to that firm before the mandate exists is the whole mechanism, and it is why the useful time to have a conversation is when you are not looking.

02

The real scenario, before you spend an interview slot

Every open role has a reason it is open. You should know the reporting line, the budget, whether the last person left or was moved, what the board has already been promised, and where the political weight sits, before the first call rather than after the third. A recruiter who cannot answer those questions is not close enough to the mandate to be useful to you.

03

Control over who sees your name, and when

Nothing about you moves without a specific yes from you, given per employer and per search. No profile goes out speculatively. Your name is never used to open a conversation with a client, and your current employer is not contacted at any stage. If a search stalls, the approval you gave it stops with it rather than carrying over to whatever comes next.

04

Compensation grounded in live searches

Published salary bands run a year or more behind the market and flatten the premiums that decide senior offers: on-call load, board exposure, regulatory scope, and how equity is treated on a leadership hire. What a firm running current mandates can tell you is what comparable searches are clearing at right now, which is a different number and usually a more useful one.

Roles these searches cover

CISO Deputy CISO CIO CTO CAIO VP Security Director of Security IAM and PAM leads GRC and compliance Security engineering Cloud security AI governance

The vetting that sits behind that access has a name and a written sequence rather than a screening call and a hunch. It is set out in full on the Triton Vetting Process, and it is the reason a submittal from this firm is read rather than queued.

Ground rules

What you can hold us to

These are the operating rules of a RED SKY representation. They are published here rather than described on a call so that you can hold the firm to them, and so that the first conversation can be about the work instead of about reassurance.

01

Your file does not move without a specific approval

Approval is given per employer and per search, never once and in general. If a search closes or stalls, that approval expires with it. Nothing is retained on a list to be pushed at the next opening.

02

You are told what is wrong with the role, not only what is good about it

Budget constraints, an unresolved reporting line, a board that has already been promised a timeline, a predecessor who left in difficult circumstances. If it would change your decision, you get it before you invest time, within whatever the client has agreed can be shared.

03

One named recruiter owns the search end to end

The person who briefs you is the person who briefs the client and the person who calls you with the outcome. You are not handed between coordinators, and you never have to re-explain your situation to someone new mid-process.

04

You get an answer inside a stated window, including a no

The window is agreed at submission and you are told what it is. A decline comes with the reason wherever the client permits it passing on. Silence is a failure of the process here, not a standard outcome of it.

05

Your name is never used as leverage

Not to open a client conversation, not to demonstrate market reach, and not to price another candidate in the same process. Your profile exists in a search because you agreed it should be there and for no other reason.

06

Your employer is not contacted, and references wait for offer stage

References are taken at offer stage only, on names you supply, and only after you give written go-ahead. Nobody in your current organisation is approached at any point in a search you are part of.

How a file is handled

Step 01

Intake

A conversation about scope, constraints, compensation, and what would genuinely be worth moving for. Nothing is submitted anywhere off the back of it.

Step 02

Matching, not forwarding

Your file is held against live and forming mandates. Where there is no fit, you hear nothing rather than being sent at something that was never right.

Step 03

Briefing and approval

You get the full scenario for a specific role. You decide whether your name goes forward. That decision covers that search alone.

Step 04

Submission and feedback

Submitted with a written case for fit, tracked to a stated response window, and closed out either way with whatever detail the client allows.

Next

Two ways in, both confidential

Neither one commits you to anything. The difference is only whether you want to see what is open today or be the person we call when something quiet opens next quarter.

Door 01

Look first

See what is live right now across security, IT, and AI, including contract, contract-to-hire, and direct hire. Applying tells us what you are interested in and nothing more than that.

Door 02

Be known first

The searches worth hearing about are the ones that are never advertised. Being on file before a mandate forms is the only way to be in that conversation when it does.
